人と車があふれ地下鉄や鉄道が
縦横無尽に走る東京
高層ビルが建ち並び
スカイツリーも出来て日々変化し
発展し続ける日本の首都
そんな東京で暮している中で
ふとした時に富士山が見える
オリンピックも決って
花のお江戸は
世界の東京として華かに
変身していくことだろう

Prosperous Edo (2013, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
Tokyo is overflowing with people and cars,
with subways and railways running in all directions.
With skyscapers packed together and Tokyo Skytree is being built,
the capital of Japan has continued to evolve and develop.
While living in such a place like Tokyo,
Mount Fuji can be seen when you least expect it.
Being chosen to host the Olympic Games,
the prosperous Edo will probably continue to transform gorgeously
into the "World's Tokyo".

Tokyo est une ville inondée de personnes et de voitures,
avec des métros et des chemins de fer qui circulent
dans toutes les directions.
Les gratte-ciel bordent les rues.
La tour "Skytree" est en cours de construction
et la ville se transforme jour après jour.
La capitale du Japon continue de se développer.
En vivant dans un tel Tokyo,
on peut apercevoir par moment le mont Fuji.
Les Jeux olympiques vont y être organisés.
La ville fleurie d'Edo va être transformée en la "Tokyo du monde".

神馬を奉納していたが

奉納するようになった。

Year of the Horse (2013

In the past, horses that were used as carriages for the gods,
were delictaed as sacred horses to gods .
From a certain period of time, people started to dedicate board paintings
with pictures of horses on them, as a substitute.
In honour of the year of the horse,
I am delighted to dedicate the ema to gods.

Il y a longtemps, j’ai fait une offrande à
un cheval sacré, attelage des dieux.
Et, depuis ce temps-là, je me recueille devant
une icône représentant un cheval peint.

“ぽんぽんダリア 平成25年”
花弁がびっしりつまっていて
まりのようにコロコロした
ぽんぽんダリア。
丸い形と鮮やかな色が愛らしく
女性が好きな花のひとつ。
昔、僕はこういうびっしりつまった
模様を描くのが好きだった。
そのころの一枚が長い年月を経て
再び発表されることになった。

Pompon dahlia,
a ball-like roly-poly flower
which petals are tightly packed.
The round shape and bright colors
make it one of women's favourite flowers.
I used to like to draw these densely packed patterns.
This is one of those from the old days
and is published again after a long time.

Les pétales du dahlia pompon
sont bien serrés,
roulés comme une balle.
Avec ses jolies formes rondes aux couleurs vives,
c’est une de mes fleurs préférées.
Autrefois, j’adorais dessiner mes motifs
avec des formes très compactes.
Un de ces dessins que j’avais réalisé il y a tant d’années
est à nouveau édité.

“伸びやか 平成25年”
花は花びらの形や色に
最も特徴がある。
しかしよく見ると茎や葉も
それぞれ独自の形を持っている。
この花は伸びやかな茎で
スラリとした姿をしていて気持がいい。

for the shape and color of their petals.
However, the stems and leaves also have
their own unique forms if you look closer.

色も形もいろいろあってにぎやかだ。
ひとつひとつ見ていると
彼らが小さかった日の状景が浮かんでくる。
忘れていた出来事も思い出されてくる。
過ぎ去った年月は戻らないが
思い出はいつまでも生き続ける

Kid's treasure box is filled with toys,
of various colors and shapes.
Take them one by one in hand
and it may recall those memories of childhood
that people may have fogotten.

“ならんだ ならんだ 平成25年”
花模様を作るとき、
僕はあまり花を縦にも横にも
並べることはしない。
その方が流れがうまれ
テキスタイルデザインとしては
自然で使いやすいと思うから。
今回はあえて縦にも横にも並べてみた。
色も縦に並べることで、
逆に新しいリズムがうまれてきたようだ。
ならんだ、ならんだ、
バラの花がならんだ。

When I create a floral pattern,
I rarely arrange them in line or side by side.
Ruleless arrangement produces lively pattern,
stylish textile design for its ease of use.
I intentionally drew some flowers side by side,
as well as the color arrangement in line.
I'm surprised that it provide a new rhythm!

Quand je crée un motif floral,
je ne répète que très rarement le même motif,
verticalement ou horizontalement.
Je pense qu’en procédant de la sorte, le design
textile nouvellement créé est plus naturel et intuitif.
Toutefois, je m’y suis prêté au jeu cette fois-ci.
En changeant par intermittence les couleurs,
un nouveau rythme semble s’être créé.

不規則的排列，往往能產生自然流動態，
很適合用作紡織品紋樣。
在這幅印花中我不按常理地整齊排列，
連顔色也做了規整的縱向排列。
竟然意外奏響了新鮮的韻律。

幾何的な形で表現した上品なもの。
この模様をポップに出来ないかと
ずっと思っていた。

“花壇 平成25年”
レンガを低く積んだ長方形の花壇に種をまく。
花が開いた時の情景を思い浮べながら配置を決めていく。
毎日少しずつ水をやりながら少しずつ成長していく姿を見守っていく。
そしてある朝、一輪の花が開く。
花や植物を育てるのはその過程全てが楽しく心を豊かにしてくれる。

I piling up some bricks to build up a rectangle flower bed.
Sowed some seeds while leaving a place by imagine their blooming.
I watering them every day and watching over their growth.

The process of growing flowers or plants is enjoyable and it enrich my mind.

Je plante des graines dans un long parterre de fleurs emmuré de briques. Je décide de sa configuration en l'imaginant mentalement. Je veille à leur croissance en les arrosant avec parcimonie tous les jours. Puis un jour, une fleur éclôt. Faire pousser des fleurs et des plantes, tout ce processus est un plaisir enrichissant.

“金平糖 平成25年”
回転する円形の鉄の大鍋に砂糖と下味のついた水を入れ
温めながら根気よくかきまぜていくことで出来る金平糖。
作っていく段階で角（つの）のようなものがいくつも出来て
あの不思議な形になる。
舌に触れる感じとほのかな甘さがいい。
金平糖の語源はポルトガル語だそうだが
その言葉のひびきも魅力のひとつだと思う。

"Konpeitō / Confetti candy"（2013,by Katsuji Wakisaka）
Mix sugar with pre-seasoned water,
Heat it in a giant circular rotating tub,
Keep stirring constantly, the Konpeitō finally complete.
These tiny candies are shaped into miraculous stars during the process.
Their unique texture and soft sweet flavor are amazing.
"Konpeitō" comes from Portuguese word "Confeito" (a type of sugar candy),
The sound of the word was fascinating to me.

Dans un chaudron rond en acier, ajoutez du sucre et de l’eau aromatisée.
Mélangez avec patience tout en chauffant le tout. Et la voilà: l’étoile sucrée.
A mesure de sa préparation, de petites cornes se forment tout autour
Et elle prend cette forme si particulière.
Cette douceur sucrée qui fond sur la langue est savoureuse.
L’origine du nom “Konpeito” est paraît-il portugaise.
Le nom du bonbon en lui-même est attrayant.

金平糖的做法是在可旋轉的巨型炒鍋中加熱糖水，
並用鐵鏟不停地鏟動讓水分蒸發將糖分裹在芯料外而成。
外形似球形的珊瑚，小巧別致。
金平糖不僅有獨特的口感和淡淡的甜味，
它的名字是葡萄牙語"confeito"的音譯，
其音韻也是魅力獨具。

二十四節気のひとつ、大寒。
二十四節気とは、中国で用いられていた
暦で一年を二十四の季節に分けたもの。
旧暦でもあるので今の気候とは少しずれがある。
しかしある時代まで、日本の農作業の時期を知る
大切な基準であり、
季節の目安されてきた。

"Daikan / Big chill"（2013,by Katsuji Wakisaka）
Daikan is one of the 24 solar terms.
Solar Terms is a calendar of 24 seasons that had been used in China.
Actually, there is a slight gap between the climate of today.
However, up to certain period, it was the important basis to know the time for Japanese agricultural labors and it also had been considered useful as seasonal yardstick in daily life.

Le mot Daikan est un des 24 termes du calendrier solaire.
Le calendrier solaire répertorie les 24 termes saisonniers utilisés autrefois en Chine.
Aujourd'hui, il existe un léger décalage entre ces termes et le climat actuel.
Cependant, jusqu'à une certaine période, ils servaient de base importante au Japon pour le travail agricole et sont devenues des indicateurs saisonniers avec le temps.

お茶の世界では炉開きが行われる。
春から秋にかけて使われていた風炉にかわり、
炉を開き釜をたく。
炉が切られた茶室は
壁の侘助とともに
緊張感のある美しさにみちている。
これから冬に向かう立冬のころ。

"Rittō / First day of winter"（2013,by Katsuji Wakisaka）
Winter is coming.
Robiraki, in the world of Chado, usually takes place in this cold season.
Robiraki, or opening of the hearth, is a Japanese tradition of tea preparation.
The kama or iron kettle is placed in Ro or a sunken hearth , while it is placed on a brazier from spring to autumn.

L'hiver approche. Robikari, une fête traditionnelle liée au Sadō (L'art du thé), est organisée à cette période. La bouilloire en fonte est placée dans un Rō, foyer creusé réservé à cet effet, au dessus d'un brasier du printemps jusqu'à l'automne. Le foyer crépitant et les wabisuke de camélia créent dans le salon de thé une beauté subtile et étriquée. Le jour annonciateur d'un hiver en approche.

日本茶道也迎來“開爐”的時節。
關閉茶室裏從春天到秋天使用的風爐，打開地爐。

Rosée hivernale, se déposant sur les herbes sauvages,
de la fin de l'été jusqu'au début de l'automne.
Une brise souffle, jour et nuit, alors que les jours d'automne s'allongent.
De l'herbe s'écoule la rosée Sous les premiers rayons du soleil matinal.
C'est la meilleure saison avant la venue de l'hiver.
