About the “Hinohara Hinoki Project”
The “Hinohara Hinoki Project” is a sustainable initiative based in Hinohara Village, Tokyo, that makes effective use of thinned Hinoki trees.
Its aim is to promote healthy forest management and revitalize the local community.
About Hinohara Village
Hinohara Village is the only remaining village within Tokyo’s mainland, surrounded by rich nature and beautiful mountains.
Blessed with forest resources, including Hinoki (Japanese cypress), the area actively promotes sustainable practices that make use of thinned wood.
Though close to the city, Hinohara Village offers the beauty of nature in every season — a place where a life in harmony with the natural world quietly thrives.
About Hinoki
Hinoki (Japanese cypress) is a tree species native to Japan and has long been used in temple architecture and traditional crafts.
The carefully selected Hinoki from Hinohara Village in Nishitama, Tokyo, is known for its beautiful grain and smooth texture — qualities that grow richer and more characterful with time and use.< Contact Information >
