SOU・SOU×Oribe Temple
“Work with a Twist.”
Items created in collaboration with Oribe Temple.
Located in Kyoto’s Kamigyo Ward, Koshoji Temple is associated with Furuta Oribe, a feudal lord and tea master who studied under Sen no Rikyu. It is also known as “Oribe Temple.”
Quirkiness, irregularity, and playfulness—Oribe’s distinctive aesthetic is known as “Heuge” (ひょうげ), or playful eccentricity.
SOU・SOU textile designs bring a touch of Heuge to the garments monks wear for their daily temple duties.
Put one on and experience Oribe’s playful spirit.
