The Five Elements Theory is the idea of natural philosophy that all things consist of five kinds of elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water.
Each element of the five elements theory "Wood / Fire / Earth / Metal / Water" has a color to represent, which is "Wood = green (blue), Fire = red, Earth = yellow, Metal = white, water = purple (black)".
It is said that these five colors, which are familiar with the five-colored silk streamer of shrines, are believed to ward off bad luck and have benefits.
・Dyed using Kyoto Stencil Yuzen dyeing.
・The fabric is made of Isemomen cotton, a traditional craft from Tsu City in Mie Prefecture.
・Isemomen cotton tenugui becomes softer and gains character the more it is washed.
・Gentle on children’s skin and pleasant to use.
※Pattern placement will vary from piece to piece. Customers cannot specify the print.
※Due to the nature of the dyeing process, uneven color or fading may occur.
※Because it is Kyoto Stencil Yuzen dyeing (hand stencil printing), slight misalignment of the pattern may appear—this is a characteristic of the dyeing method.
※This product uses Isemomen cotton. Depending on the color, some fluff may be more noticeable; this is a natural feature of the material.

Japanese tenugui have raw-cut edges at the top and bottom. Fraying will naturally settle after washing.

Due to loom characteristics, small neps (fiber knots) may appear.

Because of the Kyoto Stencil Yuzen dyeing process, the fabric edges may show uneven dyeing as seen in the photo.
