Bamboo Dragonflies (2003, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
Children used to make their own bamboo dragonflies and play with them.
They were great toys for developing children's creativity,
as the way they flew changed depending on how the bamboo were sharpened and how hard they were spun.
Times have changed, but I hope that the charm and taste of the bamboo dragonflies will remain.

Rope Ladder (2003, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
Women love the act of knitting, don't they?
I think they must be having many conversations in their minds
while unconsciously moving their hands.
When knitting the cross pattern,
it became something like a rope ladder.

Interstices and Stripes (2021, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
This is a pattern that literally
added stripes to the interstices.
It was created tidily,
which patterns can be connected vertically.

Fentes et rayures (2021 par Katsuji Wakisaka)
Voici littéralement des rayures appliquées
dans des motifs en forme de fentes
Créant à la verticale un motif ordonné.

Imoban - Potato Stamp (2003, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
Cut a potato in half and engrave it with a carving knife.
Dip it in ink and press it on the paper,
so you can make a imoban.
Potatoes are soft and easy to engrave,
anyone can make a imoban.
However, tt can’t last long.
It is still very interesting and primitive.

Flash of Light (2003, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
A glimmer of light shines through.
As the gaps are small,
so the light shines strongly into the eyes.
There are also round holes,
which the light shines through.
They form some sort of pattern.
| English translation by Karen Yiu |
Avec brillance (2003 par Katsuji Wakisaka)
La lumière pénètre en étincelant
par une petite ouverture
et m’éblouit.
Il y a également un trou arrondi,
qui laisse passer le jour,
comme un motif.

I simply drew circle with pastel crayons, round and round.
You may feel dizzy when looking at it.
