什麼是「京都藍捺染」？自江戶時代起已習慣穿用靛藍衣物的日本人。在明治時代初期，藍色成為日本的代表顏色，更被稱為「日本藍」。
相對主流的浸染靛藍染，以天然藍為原料用手捺染技法刷上圖案的「藍捺染」，是由藤田染苑全球首度開創的染色技法。
特有的精緻色彩表現和使用後的顏色轉變也是其獨特之處。
