It was a haori with gathered sleeves which was worn by the nobles in Japan.
Gathered sleeves design allows easy movement.
About "between(Ken)"...
It means the "in-between" length of coats or jackets.
The length between short length and long length = length that hides your knees.
・The outer material uses wool blended Jacquard fabric
・The lining is dyed with Kyoto-style Yuzen silkscreen print a glossy satin fabric with antistatic properties.
・2 side pockets
・Can also be worn on top of a kimono.
・You can narrow and gather the sleeves by tying the decorative strings.
・Decorative cuff braids and haori strings are made originally by Showen Kumihimo.
