Japanese people have been familiar with wearing indigo-dyed items since the Edo period. In the early Meiji era, indigo was also referred to as “Japan Blue,” becoming one of the colors that symbolize Japan. While indigo dyeing is typically done by immersion, “Ainasen” is a world-first dyeing technique developed by Fujita Sennen, in which patterns are hand-printed using natural indigo. Please enjoy the deep character of true indigo and the natural aging of its color over time.
・Using Chizimi Cotton 20/20 Circulor washing processed fabric made by Sakao Orimono.
"20/20" means a fabric woven with 20 count threads for the warp and 20 count threads for the weft.
About the texture: It is about the thickness of a shirt fabric that can be worn all year round.
(The higher the count number, the finer the yarn and the thinner the woven fabric is.)

【About Chizimi Cotton】
・A cotton crepe fabric produced in Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture since the Edo period, using strongly twisted yarn in the weft to create a textured surface and crisp feel.
・The crepe texture reduces the area that touches the skin, allowing sweat to be absorbed in points and dispersed across the surface, with a perceived cooling effect of approximately -2°C.
・Excellent performances in Sweat absorbing · Quick drying · Air permeability · Hygroscopicity · Moisture release.
・Takashima chizimi cotton, which has benefited from the natural resources of Lake Biwa, boasts the highest production in Japan.
【Characteristics of Natural Indigo & Care Instructions】
Natural indigo dyeing fixes color through repeated oxidation and alkalization processes. However, slight amounts of unoxidized components may remain. These elements create the depth and softness unique to indigo, but when worn in hot and humid conditions, they may cause color fading or brownish/yellowish stains.
This phenomenon is particularly likely to occur in the summer, but will gradually improve after 3 to 4 washes.
【About Dyeing of Chizimi Cotton】
When dyeing Chizimi Cotton, color may not fully penetrate into the deeper crepe texture of the fabric.
The Circulor washing processed fabric used in this product has elasticity (Elongation Rate: about 120%), making it easy to move in and comfortable to wear.
