Yamaoka Pottery Kyo Ware Hand-painted Matcha Bowl / Choju-giga Between Clouds

・Made by Kyo ware and Kiyomizu ware kiln, Yamaoka Zenshō Kiln. While inheriting traditional techniques, it is renowned for its outstanding expressiveness, with unique delicacy and color usage. It has received numerous awards, including the Kyo Ware Exhibition and the Exhibition of Overglaze Enamel Decoration.
・This is a matcha bowl featuring the textile pattern “SOU・SOU / Kosanji: Choju-giga Between Clouds.”
・The pattern is inspired by Japan’s most famous picture scroll, the “National Treasure – Choju-giga,” drawn approximately 800 years ago.
・At the time, depicting anthropomorphized animals such as rabbits, frogs, monkeys, and others was unprecedented and extremely rare worldwide. It is also considered a root of modern manga. For this edition, SOU・SOU received approval from Kosanji and created a completely new pop-style version, “Choju-giga Between Clouds.”
