This is a textile that was born in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, in the late Edo period. It has been designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property and a traditional craft. There are as many as 30 production processes from making with Patterns to preparing the presents, and the experience and skill of each sign are required. It takes about two months to complete Fabric until Wear is finished.
The simple beauty of Kurume Kasuri, as a result of a great deal of labour and perseverance, is widely loved and has become popular not only as kimono fabric but also in a variety of interior and accessory applications.
