＜久留米絣とは・・・＞
江戸時代後期に、福岡県久留米市で生まれた織物。無形文化財・伝統工芸品にも指定されています。柄作りから整反までに30もの工程があり、そのひとつひとつに経験と技を要するため、反物が出来上がるまでに約2ヶ月かかります。大きな労力と根気から生まれた久留米絣は、その素朴な美しさが広く愛され、着物としてだけでなくインテリアや小物にまで様々な形で浸透しています。
