その上に模様を描く
クレパスが色をはじくので

Ceramic Plates (2019, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
I colored a drawing paper with white crayons
and drew a pattern on it.
Since the crayon repels other colors,
it brings out subtle flavor of the work.
This interesting pattern created an atmosphere
that looked like laying out ceramic plates.

Small flowers and leaves, plaids and stripes,
finely embroidered on white fabric that appears a little transparent.
Lace brings out the elegant beauty without interfering with
the individuality of the wearer.

風は冷たいけれど
日ざしに暖かさが 感じられる季節
土の上に少しずつ草が芽を出してくる
一日一日 緑におおわれてきて
小さな花もところどころ見え始める
太陽に向かって
生きよう伸びようとしている
新たな命の胎動を見るのは
楽しいし春を迎える喜びが
あふれてくる

This is the season that the wind is cold, but the sun feels warm.
Grass is sprouting little by little on the soil.
Day by day, the land becomes covered with greenery.
Small flowers begin to appear in places.
Facing the sun,
they try to live and grow.
It is so pleasant to observe the birth of new life
and welcome the beautiful spring.

クレパスで何となく
描きはじめる
花を描き
茎の線を描いて
葉っぱをつける。
実も適当に描き入れる。
子供がいたずら描きをするように
むじゃきに描いた一枚。

hit the rocks with the splash of water
as they flow by.

Chrysanthemums are the flowers of autumn.
Winter chrysanthemums are small-sized flowers which
bloom from December to January.
They blossom even in a frosty or freezing weather.
Their dignified appearances show braveness of plants
living each day to the fullest.

令和4年01月12日 水曜日号
“五右衛門 平成24年”
歴史上の大盗賊 石川五右衛門。
傾いた装束に身をつつみ 南禅寺山門の上で
「絶景かな絶景かな・・・・」と大見得を切る。
捕えられ釜ゆでの刑になるが
「石川や浜の真砂はつきるとも
世に盗人の種はつきまじ」
と辞世の句を詠み、大往生。
五右衛門ならこんな模様の衣裳を
着たのでなないかと想像させる。

Goemon (2012, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
Ishikawa Goemon, a master thief in Japanese history.
He dressed in a flamboyant style clothing, stands atop the gate of Nanzenji Temple.
"What a amazing scene..." he was impressed by spring scenery and said this fameous line.
At the end of life, he was captured by the ruler and sentenced to be boiled in a pot.
"The sand on the beach may disappear, but the makings of thieves never shall."
He composed this farewell poem and passed away peacefully.
I imagine that Goemon might have worn a clothing with this kind of pattern.

Le bandit légendaire Gōemon Ishikawa.
Emmitouflé dans un costume, du haut de la porte du temple Nanzenji,
il pose théâtralement en disant: « Quelle vue imprenable…Quelle vue imprenable… »
Capturé et puni de mort par ébouillantage,
Il est à l’origine de la très célèbre phrase:
« Le sable de la plage peut bien disparaitre,
Mais jamais ne disparaitra la graine des bandits. »
J’imagine que Gōemon portait ce genre de costume à motifs.

日本歷史上知名的義賊，石川五右衛門。
他身穿奇裝異服，站在南禪寺山門之上，
留下了盛讚春景之美的名句「絕景啊絕景...」。
雖然最後被逮捕並處以釜煎之極刑。
在他詠唱「即使海灘上的沙都消失了，世界上的盜賊也不會消失。」
這句名言之後，便平靜辭世。
在我的想像中，或許五右衛門會穿這種圖樣的服裝吧。

漢数字と算用数字は見た目は全く違う。
でもその単純明快さと
存在感の確かさは共通している。
数字は人間が考え出したすぐれもののひとつだ。

梅という花は丸々としていてとてもかわいい。
その愛らしい白い梅の花の中に梅の木を絵描き、
背景には縞模様。
どこかおめでたい感じがしたので、福梅と名づけた。

A pattern that is collection of happy and festive motifs.
New Year is a time to celebrate.
In the midst of the Japanese atmosphere,
I can returen to myself.
It's also a time when I feel that Japan is a very good country.
Like the Hyakufuku pattern,
let's live a happy and joyful life!

などの森林におり

僕の描く虎はネコ科のせいか
かわいくなってしまった

In my image, tigers live in Africa
with lions and other animals.
In fact, they are not in Africa
but found in forests in India, Southeast Asia, China, Russia, etc.
Some species can be found in the snow.
Wild tigers are fierce and powerful,
but the tigers I draw are feline like cat,
more cute and adorable.

Pour moi, les tigres vivent en Afrique avec les lions et d’autres animaux.
En fait, on ne les trouve pas en Afrique mais dans les forêts d’Inde, en Asie du Sud-Est, en Chine, en Russie, etc…
Certaines espèces vivent même dans des endroits enneigés.
Les tigres sauvages sont féroces et puissants,
mais ceux que je dessine sont félins, plus mignons, comme des chats.

It is the recreation of "Tiger and Bamboo" by Ogata Korin.
It has a fearful, cute and
indescribable facial expression.
As it is a recreation,
I didn't know how much I could have managed to express the same.
But I was able to draw it as boldly as I could.

ミシミシと氷がひしめき合う
音も響く
水が流れている時とは
全く別の宇宙がひろがっている

Streams freeze into ice,
showing in many appearances.
There is white world of snow and ice.
Depending on the light,
it glows blue, sometimes gold,
sometimes shines in light purple,
keeping changing the expression.
The ice crowds together,
producing creaking sounds and frost quakes.
Compare to the water is flowing,
it creates a completely different universe.

Courant d'eau recouvert de glaces épaisses(2021, par Katsuji Wakisaka)
Les courants d'eau gèlent et se glacent
de manière diverses et variés.
Dans un monde blanc fait de neige et de glace,
ils brillent, selon la lumière, d'une couleur bleutée,
dorée ou encore violette claire, changeant sans cesse.
La glace s'amoncelle sur elle-même,
en produisant des craquements singuliers.
En comparaison au bruit de l'eau qui ruissèle,
il s'agit d'un univers complètement différent.

のれんというのは不思議なもの。
空間を戸やドアではなく
布一枚で仕切る。
人が通るとゆれて
向うの空間が見えかくれする。
風が吹くと布がゆれ動き
向うの気配が感じられる。
他の国では見かけない
日本的なもののひとつだと思う。

Noren curtain is an amazing thing.
A space is divided not by a door or a window
but only a piece of fabric.
When people pass by, the curtain flutters, and the space on the other side appearing and disappearing.
As the wind blows, the cloth sways and moves, and you can feel the presence on the other side.
It is one of Japanese unique things that you don't see in other countries.

Les noren sont des objets mystérieux.
Séparer l’espace non pas avec une porte, mais avec un morceau de tissu.
Secoué quand les gens passent devant,
on peut voir à l’intérieur.
Quand le vent souffle et qu’il se balance,
J’y vois un signe.
Visible dans nul autre pays,
C’est typiquement japonais.

花暖簾 (2000, 脇阪 克二)
暖簾是一種非常不可思議的東西。
僅用一塊布料，非窗也非門，
將空間分割成兩部分。
當有人經過時，暖簾輕飄，
可以隱約看到另一側的空間。
當微風吹拂，暖簾輕動，
可以感受到另一側有人存在。
這是在其他國家所看不到，
獨具日本風情的物品之一。

the mountains shine in purple during sunrise and sunset
and the rivers are crystal clear.
This design was created for Kyoto Sanga F.C.
The 12 polka dots scattered randomly
represented eleven players and supporters.

進門後映入眼簾的是地上被青苔包裹的大石塊
看似不規則地排列
但又似乎存在著某種特定的秩序
庭石的絕妙排佈體現了日式美感

たんぽぽの羽根のように
ふーっと吹いたら飛んで
いきそうな花達。
ふんわり、ふわふわと
風にのってどこまでも
大空を飛んでいく。
ふんわり降り立ったところは
どんなところだろうか。

Like the wings of a dandelion,
these flowers seem to fly away
when they are blown.
Softly, slightly and fluffily,
they fly up into the sky,
wherever the wind takes them.
I wonder the destination
where they land softly.

ひらひらと舞い降りてくる雪は白く淡く一瞬にして消えていく。
実はそのひとつひとつの雪は花のように美しい雪結晶でできている。

土から掘り出したばかりの
石のかたまり
ゴツゴツと荒々しく
このままでは何の価値もない
でも磨きをかけていくと
価値のあるものや
美しいものが出てくる。
人も原石のままでは特徴はない
しかしごしごしと磨きをかけていくと
思いがけない魅力的な人となってくる

Rough Stone (2018, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
Freshly digging out of the ground from the earth,
the stone is rugged and rough.
It has no value in its current state,
but if you polish it up, something valuable and
beautiful things will come out.
Humans are the same as stones,
have no characteristics when they are rugged and rough.
But if they scrub and polish themselves hard enough,
they will become an unexpectedly attractive person.

Un amas de pierre
que je viens de déterrer du sol.
Brut de décoffrage,
elle n’a aucune valeur en l’état.
Mais, une fois que je la polis,
Elle se transforme en quelque chose
De beau et de valeur.
Les humains, comme les pierres bruts,
N’ont aucune caractéristique intrinsèque.
Cependant, en se polissant jours après jours,
Ils peuvent devenir de façon fortuite
Des personnes fascinantes.

從土中剛剛挖起的石塊，
粗糙不平，此時並沒有任何價值。

但是經過一點一點努力地打磨，
