風鈴は暑い夏を何とか
涼しく過そうという 日本人の知恵が
生んだ文化ですね
鉄や陶器製もありますが
ここでは ガラスにカラフルな絵を
描いた風鈴を
風の中に 泳がせました

Wind Bells (2023, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
Wind bells are a culture
born from the wisdom of the Japanese people,
seeking to somehow endure the hot summer
by creating a sense of coolness.
While there are wind bells made of iron or pottery,
I drawn glass wind bells
that adorned with colorful paints,
let them to sway in the wind.

La sagesse culturelle japonaise dit que
cet objet apporte un je ne sais quoi de fraîcheur
pendant les étés caniculaires.
Il existe également des modèles en métal
ou bien en porcelaine mais, me concernant,
c’est un carillon en verre abondamment illustré
que j’ai laissé danser au vent.

無地の様な模様であってもイメージがほしい。
これは細かい格子なのだが
少しざっくりした糸で織ったガーゼとか
蚊帳の様なやわらかい感じを出したかった。

I want to have an image even if the pattern is like a plain pattern.
It looks like a fine grid pattern,
but I wanted to create a soft feeling like gauze
woven with slightly rough threads or a mosquito net.

Pure white body with black patterns scattered randomly.
With an remarkable characteristic of the red color atop its head.
With the red crown, they are also known as red-crowned crane.
They spread their large wings,
gracefully and beautifully dances and twirls
through the air.

Sur son corps d’un blanc pur,
sont disposées ci et là des tâches noires.
Elle est nommée grue au sommet vermillon en raison de
la partie rouge qu’elle porte sur le haut de sa tête.

軽い運動が出来る設備などが

気持を新たに 日々の暮しに
戻っていく

In a park filled with greenery, there is lawn grasses,
planted with various types of trees that serve also as a delightful shade.
There are also facilities such as benches, sandboxes, and drinking fountains,
where people can do light exercises freely.
People spend their own time,
rejuvenating themselves before returning to their daily lives
with refreshed spirits.

Dans ce parc verdoyant,
se trouve une pelouse ainsi que plusieurs arbres
plantés ça et là, nous apportant une ombre agréable.
Des bancs, un bac à sable, une fontaine à boire,
quelques modules d’exercices sont également disponibles
pour permettre aux promeneurs de se changer les idées
et retourner à leur vie quotidienne le coeur léger.

which are small and simple, have a different feel.
Some are bright, some are pitch-dark,
some have people moving about,
and each has its own way of life.
Every house has the warmth of a home,
and the flow of time are peaceful and calm.

ふと見ると 海辺に打ち寄せる
白波のように見える
そう思ってみると 他のものには
見えなくなる

It is a pattern that lining up the sharp-pointed triangles,
upon a closer look, they look like white waves
crashing onto the seashores.
Once you perceive it that way,
it becomes impossible to see it as anything else.
Depending on the consciousness,
human beings can change in any way they want.

that being drawn finely and carefully.
It also appears to have a sense of overall fullness.
This is a common pattern that seems to be found anywhere
yet it exudes a gentle and serene feeling that is comforting.

“竹垣 令和5年”
竹垣には 建仁寺垣
光悦寺垣など いろんな竹の
組み方があり
庭に情緒を与える重要な
要素のひとつとなっている
青かった竹がうす茶色に
変化していくのも趣があり
竹を黒いひもで編んであるのも
かわいく情緒がある
現代でも 竹をもっと
生かしていくべきではないだろうか

Bamboo Fence (2023, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
Bamboo fences, such as those found in Kennin-ji Temple and
Koetsu-ji Temple, were put together in various ways
using different arrangements of bamboo.
They serve as an important element that
imbues the garden with emotion.
It is charming to witness the transformation of green bamboo
gradually turning into a light brown hue.
The use of black strings to tie the bamboo up,
also adds a cute and sentimental touch.
Shouldn't we continue to make
more use of bamboo even in modern times?

Clôture de branches fendus, tressés, et autres.
Ces diverses façons d’assembler le bambou
sont un élément important
pour donner à son jardin
une atmosphère particulière.
La couleur verte de la plante
se changeant en marron a son charme.
Les tiges tressées
à la ficelle noire ont également
un attrait extraordinaire.
Même de nos jours,
ne devrions-nous pas

“Le Tour de Kyoto 平成22年”
この水玉柄はフランスで行われる世界最古の
自転車ロードレース〝ツール・ド・フランス〟において
山岳部門賞（マイヨ・ブラン・ア・ポワ・ルージュ）を
制した選手に贈られるジャージの柄です。
オリジナルは白地に赤い水玉ですが、
ツール・ド・京都がコンセプトの
SOU・SOUルコックスポルティフからは
いろいろなバリエーションで展開していきます。

Le Tour de Kyoto (2010, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
This polka dot pattern is the design of the jersey awarded to
the winner of the mountain catagory (Maillot Blanc à Pois Rouges)
in the world's oldest bicycle road race, the "Tour de France," held in France.
The original design features white fabric with red polka dots,
but SOU・SOU le coq sportif's version were inspired
by the concept of the Tour de Kyoto,
offering various variations of the design.

de la course cycliste sur route du « Tour de France ».
C’est le design du maillot remis au coureur ayant remporté
le prix du meilleur grimpeur en catégorie montagne (maillot blanc à pois rouges).
L’original est blanc avec des pois rouges mais
le concept « Tour de Kyoto » issue
de la collaboration SOU・SOU / Le Coq Sportif
sera d’en développer différentes variantes.

とりつかれた様に描き込んでいる時期があった。
これもその頃に作ったもので、
畦道（あぜみち）に囲まれた畑や田の表情を模様化したもの。

There was a time when I became fond of things with densely packed intricate patterns,
and became obsessed with drawing them in great detail.
This is something I created during that time,
where I turned the expressions of fields, rice paddies
and the footpaths between them into patterns.

ガラスのまんんまるい玉。
透明のものやいろんな色が
入ったものがある。
相手のビー玉をねらって
指ではじいて当てる。
カチンという乾いた音がして
うまく当った時は独特の快感がある。
あの快感には長い間出会ってない。

Perfectly full-orbed glasses.
These marbles are transparent
or in different colors.
Aim at the opponent's marble and
hit it with your fingers.
There is a clean "click-clack" sound and
a peculiarly pleasant sensation when you hit it well.
I haven't encountered this pleasant feeling for a long time.

Il y en aussi des transparentes
Avec toutes sortes de couleurs à l’intérieur.
Visez les billes de l’adversaire,
et lancez les en tirant avec le pouce.
C’est une sensation et un plaisir unique d’entendre
ce bruit sec quand on réussit son coup.
Je n’ai plus ressenti ça depuis bien longtemps.

“空豆 平成27年”
空豆はうす紫の花弁に
黒い斑紋のある白い花を咲かせる。
豆は丸ではなく楕円形で
真中がくびれている。
端には黒いおはぐろと
呼ばれる部分があり、なんとも愛らしい。
空に向って豆菓（さや）がつくため
空豆と呼ばれている。

Broad Bean (2015, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
The broad bean has light purple petals and
blooms with white flowers that come with black spots.
The bean is oval-shaped rather than round-shaped,
and pinched in the middle.
It has a black area at the edge,
called the "o-haguro", which means blackened teeth,
and is quite lovely.
As the broad bean's pods grow towards the sky,
it is also called "soramame" (sky bean)in Japanese.

Les fleurs de fèves ont des pétales mauves
et blanches tâchées de noir.
Les haricots sont de forme ovale et non ronde,
resserrés au centre de la cosse.
La partie noire sur l’extrémité que l’on appelle
Kuroi o Haguro, a quelque chose de mignon.
Parce que les cosses poussent vers le ciel,
les fèves s’appellent « Sora mame » en japonais.

少し草のはえているところなら、どこにでもある白つめ草（クローバー）。
珍しいものではないが、素朴で愛らしく、なぜか青春を感じるのは僕だけだろうか。

by drawing the red clover
with many small flowers without a name.
Red and purple flowers are added as accents to the greenery
to create a sense of rhythm and fun.

“ひこーきとくも 平成21年”
地上から見ている雲は白くていろんな形があって
どんどん変化していくけれど、
その上に乗って飛んでいけそうな感じがする。
でもひこーきに乗って見る雲はふわーっとした実体のないものだ。
ひこーきはその雲を物ともせずに突き抜けて超スピードで進んでいく。

Though the clouds we see from the ground are white,
and have different forms and are changing rapidly,
I still feel as if I could lay on their top and fly with them.
However, the clouds we see from the plane are fluffy and insubstantial.
The plane moves at super speed and by passing the clouds without hesitation.

“ひこーき 平成21年”
ひこーきを思い切り描いてみる。
現実のひこーきを描くのではなく、
子供のころにあこがれていたひこーきへの想いを描いている。
ひこーきに乗ったらどんな感じがするだろうか？
自分が住んでいるところはどんな風に見えるのだろうか？
そして自分の知らないところや未知の外国への夢とあこがれを
いっぱいにして描いてみた。

I try to draw airplanes as much as I can.
Instead of drawing the airplanes in the real world,
they are more like my feelings toward airplanes that I longed for as a child.
What would it feel like to take an airplane?
What would the place where I live look like from the plane?
Also, the airplanes i drew have filled with my dreams and longings
for the unknown places and unfamiliar countries.

Mais pas un avion comme on en voit dans la réalité
Mais plutôt tel que je le voyais quand j’étais enfant.
Que ressent-on quand on y monte?
À quoi ressemble sa maison du ciel?
Et rêver et aspirer à un endroit, un pays inconnu

趣味の引手を生み出してきた
楽しくかわいい引手を並べた文様

Door Handles (2022, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
The door handle serves as the only aesthetic accent
on the large surface of a sliding door,
and it exerts its presence.
How much the small door handles
can enhance the beauty of the sliding doors?
During the Azuchi-Momoyama period,
daimyos (feudal lords) created luxurious and gorgeous door handles,
while artists and masters of tea ceremony
created stylish and tasteful ones.
This is a pattern of enjoyable and cute door handles lined up together.

Poignée (2022, par Katsuji Wakisaka)
La seule présence d’une poignée
sur la surface plane du fusuma
accentue son esthétisme.
Cette petite anse fait ressortir la beauté
de la porte traditionnelle japonaise.
Celles luxueuses et extravagantes
des seigneurs féodaux de l’époque Azuchi-Momoyama.
Ou bien les élégantes des hommes de lettres
et maîtres de thé.
J’ai dessiné pour m’amuser
un motif en forme de jolies poignées.

“野の花 平成17年”
野原にいくと
いろんな野の花が咲き乱れている。
黄や白やブルーなどの小さな花達が
こっちを見て見てといっている様だ。
草の上にボンヤリと坐って
木々をながめながらお弁当を食べていると
日々の生活の中で忘れていた
何かがよみがえってくる。

When going to the fields,
there are all kinds of wild flowers in full bloom.
Yellow, white, blue and other small flowers,
seem saying "Look at me, look at me!" and seeking someone's attention.
Sitting on the grass aimlessly,
looking at the trees and having my lunch,
something that I have forgotten in my daily life
comes back to me.

En allant à la campagne,
J’ai vu des fleurs sauvages fleurir à profusion.
De petites fleurs multicolores,
qui m’accaparaient le regard à chaque seconde.
Assis sur l’herbe,
J’ai déjeuné en regardant les arbres.
J’en oubliais mon quotidien.
Quelque chose était en train de revivre en moi.

お問い合わせ窓口
脇坂さんが描くテキスタイルデザインは、＂味わい深く感慨深さ＂を感じさせるものも多くあるように感じています。
この「蚊帳」は昨秋、衿巻ジバンをHPで観ていた時に初めて目にして、画面から受けた印象は＂とてつもない繊細さ＂と＂無限な集中力＂を感じ、早々に買い求めた逸品です。
私の印象と反して脇坂さんは意外と「簡単にささっと描けたよ！」と仰るかもしれませんが…(^^)
単に＂格子＂を描いたものとの事ですが、脇坂さんのコメントにありますように＂やわらかさ＂に溢れ＂無機質さ＂を一切感じさせない色々なアイテムに合うデザインかなぁと思っています♪
