“おはじき 平成16年”
間（ま）とリズム。
これが僕がデザインする時、最も大切にしていること。
間合いをとっていくことで生まれてくるリズム。
「おはじき」にはその感じがよく出ているのではないかと思います。
丸が規則的に並んでいる様で並んでいない
何とも言えないリズムを感じてもらえると思います。

Interval and rhythm.
These are the most important things I value when designing.
Rhythm is created by taking space.
I think the "ohajiki"(marbles) expresses this feeling well.
The circles seem to be arranged regularly and neatly,
but they are not, and I think you can feel an indescribable rhythm.

Intervalles et rythme.
Ce sont les choses les plus importantes quand je travaille.
C’est dans les écarts que naît le rythme.
Je pense que ce sentiment ressort bien sur « Ohajiki ».
Les cercles ont l'air d’être parfaitement alignés
mais ne le sont pas en réalité.
On peut ainsi sentir ce rythme indescriptible.

因為節奏是透過留白所創造
我認為「彈珠」很好地表達了這樣的感覺

子猫が たくさん生まれた
ちいさくて まだひとりで
何も出来ないが オッパイを吸って
大きくなとうとしている
まだ顔もはっきりしていず
似た顔をしている
大きくなるにつれて それぞれ
個性的な顔になっていくだろう

A lots of kittens were born.
They are tiny and still unable to do anything on their own,
but they are sucking on their mother's milk
in order to grow bigger.
Their faces are still vague and
they all look alike.
As they get older,
they will develop their own unique faces.

Encore petits, incapables de se débrouiller seuls,
ils ne font que téter pour un jour devenir grands.
Leurs têtes, toutes ressemblantes,
sont encore de formes grossières.

chacun d’entre eux deviendra unique.

色をぬった紙を ちぎって
大きな花 ちいさい花をつくる
手でちぎるので きれいに
作れないのが面白い形を生む
出来た花をあまり考えずに
並べていって葉を加えた
大らかで陽だまりの暖かさを
感じる花柄

The fact that they are torn off by hand
and cannot be made neatly creates interesting shapes.
Arrange the flowers without thinking too much
and then add some leaves
It becomes a flower pattern
that is generous and with sunny warmth

Déchirer le papier de couleur,
pour fabriquer de grandes et de petites fleurs.
Déchiqueter grossièrement à la main permet de
créer des formes intéressantes.
Sans trop penser au résultat final,
j’ajoute des feuilles ça et là.
Voilà un motif floral qui nous fait ressentir
la généreuse chaleur du soleil.

將塗上顏色的紙 撕成一片片
創作出大花和小花
由於是手撕 雖然無法很整齊漂亮
但也因此出現了有趣的形狀
未多加思索
將花朵隨興排列 加上了葉子

“森のくらし 令和3年”
森の木のほら穴に住み
ホーッ ホーッと鳴きながら
暮らしている フクロウ
いろんな種類のフクロウがいて
どれも鋭い顔をしているが
どことなく 愛嬌があってかわいい
森の木にとまって獲物を
ねらっている姿は 賢者の風格がある

Living in the tree hollows in the forest,
the owls hooting "hoo- hoo-".
There are various types of owls,
all have sharp faces,
yet they have an adorable charm about them.
They look like wise men when
they perch in the trees in the forest,
waiting for their prey.

mais tous ont le même visage pointu

京都に住んでいて
いいなあと思うことはたくさんある。
でもそれを並べて立てていっても
説明しきれない何かが残る。
きっとそれは、千年の間
都だったことからくるものだろう。
都の春（お正月）は街の飾りも
歴史を感じる趣向がこらされ
いっそう雅なひとときを迎える。

Kyoto's Spring (2007, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
There are many things that
I think are wonderful about living in Kyoto.
However, even if I were to list them all,
there would still be something that cannot be fully explained.
Perhaps it is because Kyoto
was the capital for a thousand years.
During the spring season (New Year),
the city is adorned with decorations that evoke a sense of history,
making it an even more elegant time.

J’habite à Kyoto
Et il y a énormément de choses que j’adore dans cette ville.
Mais même mis bout à bout, il manque quelque chose.

elle a été la capitale du pays.
Au printemps de Kyoto (le jour du nouvel An), les décorations de la ville

ただよわせている

When you open a fan, there is a sense of excitement,
and it is comforting to close as it fold tightly.
The fan is adorned with a variety of flowers painted on it,
and creating a pattern of scattered petals.
The combination of the fan's semi-circular shape and the flowers
gives off a tastful, charming and elegant atmosphere.

Quand j’ouvre un éventail, je ressens une sorte d’excitation.
Quand je le ferme, je ressens une sensation agréable.
Y peindre une multitude de fleurs à l’intérieur
donne des motifs dispersés sur le tissu.

Geometric pattern is a combination of stripes and checked patterns,
but some may feel the sentiment of Oedo,
and some may perceive it as modern architecture.
I think some people may enjoy looking at the pattern,
and want to try to wear it.
Textile patterns are best when they are felt and
enjoyed by each and every person!

Un motif géométrique est une combinaison de rayures et de carreaux
qui font ressentir le charme de l’époque d’Édo,
ou bien une période plus moderne à certaines personnes.
D’autres aiment à regarder ces motifs, s’en amuser,
et voudrons peut-être même les porter.
Ce qui est extraordinaire avec les textiles
c’est qu’ils peuvent être appréciées

set against the background of tatami mats in a tea room.

The way in which sakura blossoms are represented
also changes with the times.
Sakura that were drawn on kimonos
from the Momoyama period are generous and relaxed.
In the midst of continuing warfare,
people lived strongly, robustly,
and they are easy-going.
These characteristics were also reflected
in the expression of sakura blossoms.

日本古来の工芸品で
粘土を低火力で素焼きし
胡粉をかけ 泥絵具で彩色したもの
最古のものは京都深草の
伏見人形とされている
土人形は粘土質の土と
像をつくる型があれば
容易に出来たので日本各地に
広まっていった
素朴な味わいが多くの人に愛されている

Clay Doll (2022, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
Clay dolls are ancient Japanese craft,
they are made of clay, unglazed at low heat,
coated with gofun (whitewash powder) and painted with distemper paint.
The earliest clay dolls are believed
to be the Fushimi dolls of Fukakusa, Kyoto.
As clay dolls could be made easily with clay and a mould,
so they have become widespread in all parts of Japan.
The simple and rustic taste of the clay dolls is loved by many people.

Poupée en argile (2022, par Katsuji Wakisaka)
Issue de l’artisanat traditionnel japonais,
ces poupées en argile, cuite à feu très bas,
sont ensuite recouverte d’une poudre de chaux
et peintes à la peinture à la colle.
Les plus anciennes sont les poupées Fushimi,
du quartier Fukakusa à Kyoto.
Au vu de leur simplicité de fabrication, recquierant
uniquement de l’argile et un moule,
elles se sont répandues à travers le Japon.
Le côté minimaliste et rustique des poupées
en argile est grandement apprécié des japonais.

土人偶 (2022, 脇阪 克二)
一種日本古老的工藝品
將黏土以低溫小火素燒
加入胡粉(用貝殼製作的白色顏料)
製成泥狀顏料上色
最早可追溯到京都深草的伏見人偶
由於使用黏土
加上只要有模具就能簡單完成
因而廣傳日本各地
其簡樸的質感受到許多人喜愛

“糸取り 平成7年”
いろんな色の糸を縦に張った中に
別の色を斜めにからめていく。
色が微妙にまじりあって
女性が好きな世界だなあと思う。
糸とか布、織や染、縫物などに
女の人は魅かれるようですね。
昔、糸を紡ぎ、布を織っていたころの
記憶が心の中に眠っているのでしょうか。

Thread Spinning (1995, by Katsuji Wakisaka)
Various colored threads are strung vertically,
with other different colors intertwined diagonally.
The colors are subtly blended together,
which I think they formed a world that women like.
Women seem to be attracted to thread, cloth, weaving, dyeing and stitching.
Perhaps memories of when they used to spin thread and
weave cloth lie dormant in their hearts.

Tandis que des fils de différentes couleurs sont étirées verticalement,
Une autre couleur est entrelacée en diagonale.
Les couleurs subtilement mélangées,
Forment un monde que les femmes aiment particulièrement.
Elles semblent être attirées par les fils, les tissus,
le tissage, la couture, la teinture.
Les souvenirs d’un passé, où elles avaient l’habitude de filer et
de tisser des étoffes, sommeillent peut-être encore dans leurs coeurs.

再將不同色彩的紗線以斜行方式交錯
所有顏色巧妙地交融在一起
我想這或許是女性喜歡的世界吧
