“ SOU・SOU KYOTO Aoyama store's tea room monthly wagashi ”
Monthly paintings and
seasonal wagashi from Kyoto
We combine "Tsukinami-e" which is a painting of each season or seasonal events and monthly wagashi, seasonal confection of Kyoto, using best ingredients in that season together. Please enjoy it feeling the seasons of Kyoto at Japanese tea space in SOU・SOU KYOTO Aoyama store.
Chilly air,
in the morning and evening.
Warm sunlight walks under the stream,
bring a breath of spring.
They heat streams up,
renew the youth of floating grass,
wake little fishes up.
Every living thing,
full of joy,
merrily, merrily, welcome the spring.
March’s seasonal wagashi is based on the March’s painting, which represents the floating grass and underwater spring.
We used some seasonal ingredients to represent spring.
One of them is made of white sweetened bean paste mixed with peach liqueur. It contains peach fleshes, puree, jelly liqueur, and topped with goji berries which go great with peach flavor.
The other one is seasonal strawberry taste. Strawberry-flavored puree is mixed with white sweetened bean paste, and lemon juice is added to provide a refreshing flavor. Dried cranberries are topped on it.
We serve a cup of green matcha tea (or choice of coffee) and our wagashi based on our textile design.
